Katja Herbers was born in Germany to Vera Beths, a violinist and Werner Herbers, an oboist. While growing up Katja Herbers was a part of her mom on a tour across America as part of the chamber group L'Archibudelli. Her father and mother both remarried, her mother to cellist Anner bylsma.
